To date, her focus has been issues such as security in schools and the opioid crisis, trade, infrastructure as well as other topics. As a director, she is not in contact with reporters. She garnered some media attention when her name was mentioned as a possible contender in the race to replace Hope Hicks in the role of communications director. There has been a lot of fighting. The Schlapp's allies as well as Tony Sayegh have begun to fight within the press. Schlapp stated that after she was informed that when the Washington Examiner ran a story which contained negative criticisms of Sayegh she had a conversation with the latter.
